Student Competitions

Developing interest in science, math and engineering among students is an important endeavor. Competitions like the ones below are excellent engineering activities to foster excitement in students of all ages about various ways to use photovoltaic cells.

Solar Car Races

Solar Decathlon

The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. Education Overview

Solar energy education takes on many forms - from a certificate program for professionals to topic-specific instruction for the DIY individual. Formal education is offered by universities, community colleges, technical colleges and on-line programs.  Whether you are looking for an educational offering for passive solar design, photovoltaic or solar water heating -- the State of Arizona has many organizations that teach concepts and applications of solar energy usage.  The following institutions have offered courses in the past. Education Modules

Arizona is a land of physical and climatic diversity. From the San Francisco Peaks to the Sonoran desert, Arizonans past and present have adapted to this land of diversity and climatic intensity .

Arizona history is replete with solar applications that are reflected in the form and shape of our buildings and the patterns of our behavior. Through time, Arizonans have evolved solar strategies in their buildings and their equipment.
