Flagstaff Solar Tour

  • Tour Date: Saturday, September 30
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (NOTE: Willow Bend closes at 1:00 p.m.)
  • Tour Description:   Tour of Sustainable Homes begins at Willow Bend Center for Environmental Education (703 E. Sawmill Rd., Flagstaff, AZ).  Tour includes homes with active and passive solar features.  Some are straw bale homes, some incorporate greywater systems, as well as other sustainable features.

West Sedona Home Tour

  • Date: Saturday, October 7
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Tour Description: Monolithic dome home that started an off-grid solar neighborhood. Solar and wind powered generated backup power, solar oven. Heating and cooling cost for first three years $15/ year. See this most passive design and solutions for energy independence.
  • Location: West Sedona - Follow 89a (toward Cottonwood) from Sedona to Dry Creek Road north. Drive about 2.6 miles to the first stop sign. Turn Left on Boynton Pass Road, drive 1.8 miles to second stop sign and turn left (still on Boyton Pass Road) and drive 2.8 miles. Turn Right at the Bear Mt. Road sign and across the cattle guard. Flagstaff Bonus Tour - Straw Bale Workshop

  • Date: Oct. 14
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. - late afternoon
  • Description: Rob and Carrie Henderson are building a straw bale home and invite you to participate in a bale workshop.

Tucson - 11th Annual Tucson Innovative Home Tour & Tucson Solar Tour

Taylor/Snowflake Solar Homes Tour

  • Tour Date: Saturday, October 28
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Tour Description: See homes built with alternative building materials such as insulated cinder blocks, structurally integrated panels, tires, straw bales, and a geodome. Most supply all of their electrical power using wind and sun, with a generator for backup. They are using various methods of deep well pumping (ie. Solar jackpump, gasoline-powered jackpump, windmill and straight solar well pumping). We also have one grid-tie system with battery back-up.
